Elias Gabriel Vigil, 71, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed on March 13, 2022. He was born on August 20, 1950 in Embudo, New Mexico, to Maria Ceralia Archuleta and Jose Demecio Vigil. He married Vita (Archuleta) Vigil (52 Years).
Elias enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and served 4 years. He came back and was employed with the State of New Mexico and retired after 25 years from the Highway and Transportation Department. He worked several part-time jobs including his most recent for the Santa Fe Public Schools as a bus driver. He was known and loved by so many and enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed, cooking, baking, hunting, fishing camping in Pilar, New Mexico and playing Keno at the casino. We will miss his funny jokes and great comebacks.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Jose D. Vigil and Maria C. Vigil, father in law; Horacio Archuleta, and mother in law; Theresa Archuleta.
He is survived by his wife; Vita Vigil, children; Gabriel (Victoria) and Christine (Bernerd), granddaughters; Danielle and Destiny Gonzalez, brother; Demecio (Cora) of Bernalillo, NM, sisters; Dolores Montano of Albuquerque, NM, Fabiola Medina of Tooele, UT, Estella Pacheco of Rio Rancho, NM, Georgia Aragon of Pilar, NM, Modesta Vigil of Pilar, NM, sister in laws; Joann Vigil of Embudo, NM, Beverly Archuleta (Danny) of Embudo, NM, brother in laws; Leroy Archuleta (Donna) of Embudo, NM, Gilbert Archuleta and Robert Herrera of La Mesilla, NM, He had many nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends and an extended loving family.
A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Santa Maria De La Paz and funeral Mass is to follow after at 2:30 p.m. Burial is Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
