Costilla, NM resident Eligio D. Archuleta, 77, passed away June 1, 2010 at San Luis Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Eligio was born on February 13, 1933 in Costilla New Mexico, the son of Maximiniano Archuleta and Anna Maes Archuleta. Eligio was a member of the Rio Costilla Cooperative Livestock Association and the Costilla Fire Department. Eligio had many hobbies some of which included telling jokes, ranching and farming, inventing new tools to make work easier, but most of all spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include his wife Annabell Archuleta of Las Vegas, NM; daughters Hazel (Dennis) Santistevan of Alamosa, CO; Patsy Archuleta (Jerome Martinez) of Alcalde, NM, Darlene Archuleta of Alamosa, CO; son Max Archuleta of Costilla, NM; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; sister Cecilia Archuleta of Costilla, NM. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eligio was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lydia Archuleta, two brothers Albert and Juan Archuleta.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla, NM .A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM also at the Sacred Heart Church in Costilla, NM. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery also in Costilla, NM.
