ELINOR ANNA GALVIN Elinor A. Galvin passed away on August 18, 2008 following a short illness. Elinor Anna Fritz was born February 20, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Louis and Julia Fritz. She attended Pratt Institute and then worked for Nestle's Chocolates and for SperryRand, building gyroscopes during WWII. She met and married Edward Cornelius Galvin in 1942. In 1945, she joined her husband Edward, who worked in Los Alamos. Upon her arrival in Santa Fe, she was taken under the wing of Amelia White and lived in the Garcia Street Apartments. They moved to Los Alamos in 1947 and returned to Santa Fe in 1957 to make their permanent home. Elinor was an avid bowler and treasurer for the Los Alamos bowling league for many years. She was an active member of the Santa Fe Women's Club for over 40 years and held various board positions during that time. She was a volunteer for Sangre de Cristo Girl Scouts and for the Dolpins de Santa Fe Swim Team. Her favorite pastime the last few years was nickel slots at the casinos. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband Edward Cornelius Galvin in 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Gail A. (Galvin) and her husband Lloyd Takeshita (LTC, USA Ret.) of Santa Fe, and Lynn A. (Galvin) and her husband Griffin Dodge (COL, USA, Ret.) of Santa Fe, her granddaughter Deborah (Dodge) and husband Jay Winton of Santa Fe, and grandson Ryan Takeshita of Boulder, Colorado. Her family will meet friends beginning at 10:00 am Friday, August 22, 2008 at Santa Fe Funeral Options Chapel, where a graveside service will be conducted in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11:00 am Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations in her name to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, 100 Caja de Rio Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
