Elizabeth Aken Wright Anderson

1949 — February 19, 2019

Elizabeth Aken Wright Anderson, a long-time resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Tuesday, Feb 19, 2019 at the age of 70. She passed peacefully in her sleep as she napped that afternoon. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Muriel Zyphora and George William Wright of Chapel Hill, NC. She is survived by her husband Richard of Los Alamos, her two sons David of Brighton, CO and Jason of Austin, TX, her granddaughter Scarlett and her siblings, sister Marjorie Moe of Chapel Hill, NC, and brother Bruce Wright of Los Angeles, CA. In addition, she is survived by her nieces Elizabeth Kolousek of Ashville, NC, and Kirsten Moe of Raleigh, NC, and her nephew Erik Moe of San Franscisco, CA, and by her cousins Diane Staton of Carrboro, NC and Sharon Gilley of Wakefield, MA, and Kristin Lindley of Oslo, Norway. Liz had a career in counseling, starting with her graduation from Purdue University with a degree in Recreational Therapy and Counseling. Liz worked for the Girl Scouts and for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in both Colorado and New Mexico. She also worked at severl half-way Residence Houses where she assisted with addiction counseling and other issues. She also assisted at UNM-LA and maintained a private practice with an emphasis on gambling addiction. After retirement, Liz enjoyed reading on her Kindle as well as playing with her dog Mocha and participating in group video gaming with her on-line friends. A visitation and remembrance will be held for Liz at the Rivera Funeral Home in Espanola, NM from 1 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2019. All her friends and family are invited at attend. For those who wish to remember Liz through a contribution, Liz would have been happy to have you make contribution to the organization of your choice. Liz herself supported several different organizations such as Habitat for Humanity (726 Riverside Drive, Espanola, NM 87532), the National Wildlife Federation (11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA. 20190), Defenders of Wildlife (1130 17th St. NW, Washington, DC 20036), and the MD Anderson Cancer Center (PO Box 4464, Houston, TX 77210-4464). The family of Elizabeth Aken Wright Anderson has entrusted the care of their loved one to the Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations of Los Alamos, NM.
