Elizabeth “Beth” Strutzel died peacefully on October 2, 2024 at her home in Santa Fe. She was 80 years old. Born in Ely, Minnesota on March 1, 1944 to Stephen and Mollie Strutzel, she was the youngest of three girls. Beth earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota and later pursued a Masters in Nursing at Yale University. In the early-1970s, she moved to San Francisco where she discovered that a career in business would be a better fit for her talents and ambitions. Earning an MBA from Stanford University, was a testament to Beth’s intellectual prowess and determination.
Beth dedicated many years of her career to Bank of America, four of which were spent in Japan which ignited her passion for the Japanese culture. She formed lasting connections and gained valuable insights that enriched both her personal and professional life. After a successful stint as a portfolio manager for Hewlett Packard, Beth became an independent consultant, a role she held until retirement.
While Beth cherished her life in San Francisco, she found great joy in her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico fueling her passion for the arts. She was an active member of the Santa Fe Opera community, a dedicated volunteer at the International Folk Art Market, and supported the Santa Fe artistic community at large.
Beth was a wonderful and caring friend, as well as a loving sister and aunt. She was always present for holidays, birthday parties, weddings, and other special events, bringing joy and warmth to every occasion.
Beth is survived by her sister Mary Schnitzler (Jim) and her three nieces Jane Pondel (Jim), Amy Schnitzler (Shirley) and Paula Schmidt (Kurt), along with their children, all of whom loved her dearly.
The family would like to thank all of the compassionate and respectful caregivers at Caring Hands Home Care and Roadrunner Hospice.
