Eloise Childress, born on Jan. 30, 1920 in Minnesota, died August 10, 2010 at her home in Angel Fire. Eloise was known to many as Gramma at the Thrift store in Angel Fire. She was a lady of many talents. After retirement from a local department store in Omaha, Nebraska she and her husband, Jim moved to Hawaii where they lived the good life until his passing in 1987. In 1990 Eloise started goodies by Gramma gift baskets of cookies. As that became too successful for her to handle she started Under things by Gramma which included pantaloon, slips and camisoles made from fine eyelet material. When she moved to the North Shore of Oahu the fruits of the North Shore caught her attention and she started North Shore Jams and Jellys, which she continued until she moved to Angel Fire in 2004. Eloise is survived by her children, Kay Lum of Hawaii, Gloria Ortega of California, Ron Childress of Tennessee and Lee Ann Calleon of Angel Fire, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2 PM at Rivera Chapel in Taos.
