Eloy Rodriguez Jr.

March 26, 1945 – November 8, 2023

Eloy Rodriguez Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice Rodriguez, his parents Eloy Sr. and Rosarito Rodriguez, and his brothers Alfredo, Santiago, and Richard Rodriguez.

Eloy is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Carlos, Serena, Jared, Ray and Cynthia Rodriguez.  His grandchildren Aleah, Ashley, Zell, Elise, Everly Rodriguez, Hilary Craig and Jonathan Fresquez.  His siblings and their spouses Ernesto and Marti Rodriguez, Ariel and Christine Rodriguez, Ralph and Janine Rodriguez, Richard and Donna Rodriguez, Christy and Anita Rodriguez, Marie L. Armijo, Gene Armijo, Christina and Isidro Armijo, Sylvia and Anthony Gonzales, and Emilia and Frankie Baca.

Eloy was a local celebrity.  It didn’t matter where he went.  Someone would always recognize him.  Of course, he would have to stop and chat with everyone.  In fact, Eloy would strike up a conversation with strangers.  He was admired and respected by everyone that crossed his path.  Eloy stood by his wife’s side as she battled illness.   He taught his sons how to be strong, yet he stressed kindness and humility.  Eloy loved to show off his grandchildren and taught all of us the importance of family.

Eloy served in the U.S. Army, retired from the NM Corrections Dept. as a “Captain”.  After retiring, he worked as a security officer at the Wheelwright Museum of The American Indian.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and roping.  He was an active member of The American Legion Post 70.  His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren.

His kindness and patience will be missed but not forgotten.  Rosary service is scheduled at St. John’s Catholic Church on Friday, November 24th at 10:00 Am followed by a mass at 11:00 AM.  Funeral Services will be at 1:30 PM at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception will take place after services and will be announced after the eulogy.
