Elsie Duran, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2024. A lifelong resident of Chimayo/Espanola, New Mexico, Elsie lived her life with unwavering faith, dedicating each day to serving the Lord. To know Elsie was to know the true meaning of love – she was a radiant soul whose kindness and compassion knew no bounds. With every breath she took, Elsie poured herself into her family, offering protection, warmth, and an endless supply of unconditional love. She was the steadfast foundation that held us all together, a beacon of strength and grace.

Elsie was preceded in death by her son Steve Eric Vigil, her parents Natividad and Beatrice Baca, and siblings Paul (Linda) Baca, Dan (Rose) Pacheco, Robert Baca, Teresina (David) Burgos; Adelina Salazar.

Mourning her loss, her beloved husband of 46 years of marriage, Ruben Duran; sister Yolanda Montoya; children Glen Vigil (Cindy Vigil), Donna McNevin (Daniel McNevin); Naomi Flynn (Bill Flynn), and Ruben Duran Jr.; Grandchildren Steven Vigil (Vanessa Tapia), Desirae Vigil, Doniel McNevin, Desirae McNevin; Estevan Vigil (Amber Vigil), Jessica Scott (Collin Scott), Rebecca Vigil; Vicente Iten (Nubia Saenz), Jacqueline Medina (Robert Medina). Suzette Velasquez (Rene Velasquez). Great Grandchildren Jolen Montoya, Josiah Montoya, Jorden Vigil, Maya Vigil (Jonah Gonzales), Evanissa Martinez, Marcos Vigil, Trinity Vigil, Levi Vigil, Daniel Velasquez, Aiden Velasquez, Isabel Velasquez, Amie Medina, Robert Medina, Lawrence Medina, Joseph Iten, Alexa Saenz; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

We extend our appreciation and gratitude to all our family and friends for your prayers, generosity, and being with us through this difficult time. A sincere thank you to Pastor Mike Bencomo, Pojoaque Bible Church.

A memorial service will be held at the Pojoaque Bible Church on January 6, 2025, at 10:00 am, Elsie will be laid to rest following the services at the Lighthouse of Chimayo Cemetery. Meal to follow Burial at Pojoaque Bible Church.
