Elsie B. Ortega

Elsie Borrego-Ortega – Age 75 a resident of Española passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2006 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Ortega; sons: Larry and Matthew Ortega; parents: Albert and Lenna Borrego; sister, Lucille Trujillo; mother and father-in-law, Manuela and Norberto Atencio; brother-in-law, Felix Ortega; and sister-in-law, Teresa Rivera. She had a lifelong love of music, she loved to play the piano and she sang for many years in the choir at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was loved by her family and many dear friends, she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children: Nathaniel Neil Ortega and wife Jeanette of Española, James and Andrew Ortega both of Albuquerque, Pethrea Walsh of Santa Fe and Charlene Ortega of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Harold Borrego and wife Virginia of Alaska; sister, Eileen Garcia and husband Leroy of Albuquerque; brothers-in-law: Vicente Atencio and wife Viola of Española, Jerry Atencio and wife Sylvia of Española and Floyd Trujillo of Santa Fe; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. All are welcome to visit with the family and friends anytime between 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary, to share memories of Elsie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. The time of the mass is pending at this time and will be announced as soon as it is available. Burial will follow the mass at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
