Elsie Maria Cortez

Elsie Maria Cortez 95, formerly of Taos, NM passed away peacefully in Henderson, Nevada on November 22, 2018, where she resided with her daughter Jeanette and son in-law, David Trujillo. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Jose de la Luz and Elisa Velasquez, son Joseph Cortez, daughter in-law, Yolanda Velarde Cortez, baby daughter Jane Cortez, sisters, Lydia Lyle and Nora Bailon. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Trujillo (David) of Henderson, Nevada, Teresa Ortiz (Leroy) of Chilli, New Mexico, sister, Tillie Suazo (Gilbert) of Taos, New Mexico, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chris and LaNette Garcia, Melvin Medina and Annale Trujillo, LeShann Martinez and Adam Vigil. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10 AM with interment following at the Dolores Cemetery in Taos, New Mexico. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos.
