Emalie Tipton

January 4, 1940 — March 24, 2021

Emalie Anne Tipton, 81, of Embudo, New Mexico passed away of natural causes on March 24, 2021, at her home. She was born on January 4th 1940, in Binghamton, New York to Dewitt H. and Ethel Hugaboom Hayes.

She married John Arthur Tipton on July12, 1959. She and her husband served as missionaries in Dominica, West Indies(1962-1965), and in Papua New Guinea (1984-1986). They served in several pastorates in Michigan, Ohio, New York, and Indiana. She was an ordained minister of the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. Emalie was preceded in death by her parents Dewitt and Ethel Hayes, her husband John A. Tipton, and two sisters, Rose Hayes Barton and Shirley Hayes Soltis.

She is survived by her children, John A (Dusty), James L., David E., Esther A, Mary E. Tipton, and their spouses; siblings, Jeanne Cameron, Daniel Hayes, Charlene Boyea, Donald Hayes, Duane Hayes, and Evalie Flynn; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters-in law; nieces, nephews and extended family. She also leaves behind many lifelong friends. Her gentlespirit and quiet strength left a tremendous legacy and she was loved by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the General Missionary Department of the Churches in Christ in Christian Union, or to your favorite charitable animal rescue organization. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
