Emelina Tafoya, 73, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 03, 2007. In her youth, she attended St. Francis Catholic school and graduated from Taos High School in 1953. She worked at the Kit Carson Drive-In Theatre for 7 years. She then worked for JC Pennys, where she retired after 24 years of service to the company. . She worked for Wal-Mart for 10 years after her retirement and was a care provider for her niece. She is a lifetime member of San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church and was also a member of the Guadalupanas. Emelina dedicated her life to her children and family. Emelina was raised by her grandmother, Francisquita Cortez. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luis & Asencion Tafoya, infant sister, Elena Tafoya, sister, Cordelia Trujillo and brother, Victor Lucio Tafoya. She is survived by her children, Samuel R. Bailon and wife Maria Elena of Ranchos de Taos, Rebecca L. Cordova and husband William of Rio Rancho and Robert D. Bailon of Rio Rancho. She is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew, William Paul and Ashley Cordova, Kimbree-Kaye, Taelyr D., Christopher J. and Mark Ryan Bailon, brothers and sister, Florentino Tafoya and wife Emilia of Albuquerque, Nellie Elena and Tomas Pacheco of Cheyenne, Wyoming , Ismael "Mouse" Tafoya of Llano Quemado, and Jose Luis Tafoya of Albuquerque. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with special mentioning of her nieces Barbara Trujillo-Mendez and husband Antonio and Mercedes "Mercy" Trujillo. Rosary was recited on January 05, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 06, 2007. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at San Francisco Cemetery.
