Emily Mares

Emily Romo Mares, 100, went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on July 11, 2009 following a long illness.Emily lived in Los Alamos for the past 11 years. She was born on February 28, 1909 in Taos, NM, to Arsenio Romo and Carmelita Griego. Mrs. Mares was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan R. Mares in 1982, her great-grandsons Joshua Patee in 1992, Shay Kelly in 1995, and Nickolas in 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Cano (Tony) of San Jose, California, Carmen Kelly (Al) from Taos, NM, Emily Lang (Edmond), and daughter Rose Marie Townsend of Los Alamos, NM, her sister-in-law Juanita Mendez (Cruz) of Denver Colorado, her brother-in-law Alex (Jean) from Albuquerque, NM. Her special nephew and niece Eddie and BC Rimbert of Taos. Mrs. Mares is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. In lieu of flowers please send any donations to Los Alamos Visiting Nurses.
