Emily Martinez 5-1-1926 to 5-12-2023

On Friday, May 12, Emily returned to her heavenly home. Waiting for her was Salomon, her husband, Ermelia, her daughter, Sal (aka Hammer), her son and Anthony Jose, her grandson.

During her 97 years, she was a “rancher’s wife”, the co-owner of a restaurant, a teacher’s aide, and a loving mother.  Surviving her are children, Danny (Gloria), Joe (Shelly), Marcella (Tex), Steve, Margaret, Monica, Richard (Valerie) and Kimberlie, daughter-in-law in addition to 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

A devout Catholic, who met everyone with a smile, she was a Lector and Eucharist Minister, taught Religious Education to many, helped maintain St. Anthony’s Church in Los Sauces and always had coffee and/or a meal for the Priests.  For 25 years, she was a member of the PTA in the Sanford school and could always be counted on when volunteers were needed for anything.

A Rosary will be held at San Isidro Catholic Church in Santa Fe at 6:30 pm on Friday, May 26th.  Mass will be on Saturday, May 27, at 12:00 noon, in St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Los Sauces, Colorado, followed by burial in the Gate to Heaven Cemetery, also in Los Sauces, Colorado.
