Enoch Jirah Gonzales unexpectedly died on August 25, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the tender age of 25. He was born to Sylvia Perea-Gonzales and Felix Gonzales of San Ysidro. He was a New Mexico native, but spent several years in Japan and South Korea during his time in the service. He was also stationed in California and briefly lived there following his service to our country.
Enoch enjoyed fishing and spent many summer days with his cousins along the river. He also enjoyed hunting and playing pool. Enoch was a sergeant in the Marine Corps and proudly served our country from November 2011 to October 2015. His time in the Marines were among his most cherished years. He achieved several accomplishments including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Combat Marksmanship Coaches Course awards.
He is survived by his parents Felix Gonzales and Sylvia Perea-Gonzales; his brother Israel Perea and sister-in-law Michaelann Perea and their kids Jaden, Caleb and Brooke; his grandmother Rebecca Gonzales; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded by his grandparents Orlando and Flora Perea and Hipolito Gonzales, and cousins Isaiah and Dylan Cook.
The pallbearers are Zach Cruz, Angelica Gurule, Eric Ortiz, Jaden Perea, Caleb Perea, Josiah Garofalo, Isaac Baca, and Carlos Perea.
Honorary pallbearers are Justin Perea, Lorenzo Roybal, Julian Cook, Martin Blea, Petey Furtado, Ramon Perez, Stephanie Alejandra, Amrit Samra, and Ralfi Garcia.
He will be remembered for his bright and loving smile and cheerful laugh, his childhood obsession with bugs and lizards, and his service to our country.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11 am at the Church on a Hill in Ribera, New Mexico. Reception to follow at the Community Center in Ilfeld.
Burial will be at County Road 9 B43B Ilfeld, NM 87538.
