Ernest Garcia

Ernest R. Garcia, 77, A resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on March 6, 2024. Ernest was born on May 6, 1946 in Encino, NM to mother Ursula and father Blas. He was married to Bertha T. Garcia. 

Ernest was preceded in death by his sisters Magdalena, Anna Ruth, and Estella, brothers Luis, Jerry, Ambrosio, Gristoval, Luciano and Blas Jr. 

He is survived by his spouse Bertha T. Garcia, son Carlos R. Garcia, sisters Juanita, Elisia, Berna, Clarita, Rosie, and AnnaBell, brother Daniel, and generations of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends and neighbors. 

Ernest was a dedicated truck driver for 54 years. He eventually owned his own trucking company. He was the neighborhood "Good Guy." He was known for driving his 1948 Chevy "old green" truck. He was a donor to New Mexico Donor Services. Ernest loved his family, neighbors, and extended family. He loved birds and animals. He cherished his old friends and his new friends. He loved going to the shop, gathering at get-togethers including funerals. He enjoyed smoking cigarettes, eating out at local restaurants, driving his trucks, and reading the news. He loved children at all ages. 

A Rosary was held on May 2, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the old Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe, NM. A Mass was held on May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Encino, NM. Interment will take place following the Mass at the Encino Cemetery. 

The family of Ernest Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
