Ernesto J. Garcia Sr.

Ernesto J. Garcia Sr., 78, of Penasco went to be home with the Lord with his wife of 58 years by his side, on September 23, 2015. He was a hotshot with the US Forest Service for 20 years. Later he worked as a material handler in the transportation department at Los Alamos National Labs. He was a lifelong resident of Penasco where he farmed and ranched and also owned Ernies Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Repair Service. He was a musician with numerous bands in Taos County. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Mickey Garcia, parents, Jose Maria and Matilda Garcia, mother in-law, Genoveva Muniz, one sister and six brothers. He is survived by his wife, Porferia Garcia, children, Diana Garcia of Espanola, Ernest Garcia Jr. (Dolores) of Penasco, Leonard Garcia of Penasco, Jose M. Garcia (Bernadette) of Rio Rancho, Edward Garcia (Faith) of Taos, Anthony Garcia (Jessica) of Penasco, Ernestina Archuleta (Greg) of Rio Rancho, Hubert Muniz of Mobile Alabama and Wayne Muniz of Bernalillo, Gene Garcia, whom he raised as a son, brother, Benjamin Garcia (Diane) of Albuquerque, 26 grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on September 27, 2015, Funeral mass was held on September 28, 2015. Both were held at San Antonio de Padua Church with interment following at the Mascareñas Cemetery.
