Ernesto Sanchez

Ernest Sanchez passed on from this life at home on December 19 2019 in Santa Cruz, New Mexico at the age of 87.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 64 years Margie Sanchez: sister Josie Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, children, David Sanchez and wife Norma (3 granddaugters) of Mesa Arizona, Tim Sanchez of Cebolla New Mexico, Anita Sanchez of Santa Cruz New Mexico and Sam Sanchez and wife Shelly (2 granddaughters) of Arroyo Seco New Mexico.  He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Antonio Sanchez and Terecita Maes Sanchez , brother Deciderio Sanchez , sister Isabel Sanchez all of Cebolla New Mexico, sister Crestina Martinez of Espanola New Mexico and Jeanie Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah.

Mr. Sanchez was born on October 11 1932 in Cebolla, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and after that he went to college and earned a Masters degree in education. He taught in Corydon Indiana, Chama New Mexico and Santa Cruz New Mexico at Mcurdy School. He was an educator, sports coach, Guidance Councelor and Dean of Students thru out his career. After retiring he returned to ranching , gardening and became a landscape painter.

Serving as Pallbearers are Victor Valdez, Sam Sanchez, Tim Sanchez, David Sanchez, , Medardo Sanchez, and Anthony Garcia.

Also serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Ramona Chavez , Toby Sanchez, Levy Arellano, Ray and Levila Archuleta.

 

Veiwing for Mr. Sanchez will be December 30, 2019 3:00-4:30PM  at Rivera Family Funeral Home.

A Memorial service for Ernesto will be Monday December 30th at 5:00 PM.

Interment with Navy Military Honors will take place  on December 31, 2019 at The Santa Fe National Cemetary at 9:45AM.
