On November 19, 2024, Eudora Loraine (Lorry) Waterman Waugh passed away peacefully in her home at Taos Enchanted Village.
Lorry was born to Martha and John Waterman on August 27, 1926, in Ogdensburg, New York. In 1944, after graduating from New Kensington High School (PA), Lorry joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and completed her training at South Side Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She became a Registered Nurse in June 1948 and married William (Bill) Waugh, Jr., in January of the following year. They raised their three sons and lived in the Pittsburgh area until 1979, relocated to Irving, Texas, for eight years, and moved to Taos in 1987.
Lorry was an enthusiastic Explorer Post co-leader of thirty expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch and went on to serve as Backcountry Advisor on the Ranch Committee for nine years. She and Bill also travelled abroad extensively for Mission work and was a dedicated volunteer at St. James Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, her sons, Christopher, Jonathan, and Timothy, and her grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, and Samuel.
In lieu of sending flowers or planting a tree, we kindly encourage donations to be made to the CHATE Program at the Lion's Club of Taos.
