Obituary for Eugene “Gene” Lucero
Eugne “Gene” Lucero, 72, went to be with Our Lord on July 19, 2023. Gene was a resident of Albuquerque New Mexico. Gene was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was a loving father, grandfather. great-grand father, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was proceeded in death by his father Felix Lucero, mother Rose Lucero, granddaughters Raquel Lucero, and Felica Garza, brothers Pete Lucero, Daniel “Boy” Lucero, and nephew Gary Lucero. He is survived by his 5 children: his son Geno Lucero (Valerie), son Eric Lucero, Daughter Jessica Lucero (Johnnie Duran), son Christopher Lucero, daughter Alma Tapia (Marvin). His 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, his special niece Patricia Lucero, and 5 sisters and 1 brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene’s life was filled with serving his country and his family. He served with the Army during the Vietnam war. He also proudly served his community as a social worker focusing on Behavior health for 29 years. Once Gene hit retirement he enjoyed watching his car shows, and sports. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

A Rosery will be recited at 6:00 PM Monday, July 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia St, Las Vegas, NM 87701, with a public viewing prior at 5:00 PM. A Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday August 1, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 9:00 AM, with a reception to follow at VFW at 11 AM, 148 Mills Ave, Las Vegas, NM 87701. Burial Services with full Military Honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 PM, Thursday August 3, 2023.
