Age 90, Loving father, passed away peacefully at home in Santa Fe, NM on the morning of May 08, 2020. Evaristo was born in Heck Canyon, NM to Ramon Chavez & Salome Roybal.

Evaristo is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 47 years, Erlinda, grandparents; Ricardo and Manuelita Roybal, sister; Viola Ortiz, brothers; Philip and Jack Valdez and his two sons; Manuel & Raymond Chavez and great granddaughter Tiana Rachel Vargas.

He is survived by his three children; Michael and Carol Chavez and Debbie Vigil, (Daniel) he had twelve grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, three sisters; Eva Sanchez, Lupita Gress and Theresa Townsend from Denver.

Evaristo retired from the College of Santa Fe/St. Michael’s High School/Camp La Salle after 37 years of dedication, and then presented Letters of Affiliation (The Institute of the Brothers of Christian School) on December 9, 1988. He was an Army soldier in the Korean War. Our father will be remembered for the love of hunting, fishing and the outdoor life.

Special thanks to Amber Care Hospice and Isaac Griego his grandson, Cristal Vigil, granddaughter who assisted in the care of our beloved father.

A Rosary will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 9:00 at St. Anne’s Catholic Parish followed by Funeral Mass and due to COVID-19 the burial at the National Cemetery has limited restrictions and will be scheduled for a Private burial at a later date.
