Evelyn Collier
August 30, 1920 to April 4, 2018
April 4, 2018 was a beautiful spring day in New Mexico. This was the day Evelyn chose to leave us and begin her journey. After a short illness, she is now at rest.
Evelyn was born in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Lee Cook and Nancy Swimmer.
She had two brothers and two sisters: Andrew Cook. Glenn Cook, Fanny Cook and Helen Cook. Although born in Oklahoma, Santa Fe has been her home since 1963.
She is preceded in death by Lee Cook, Nancy Swimmer-Cook, Andrew Cook, Glenn Cook, Fanny Cook, Helen Cook, husband Floyd Collier: and her love for 37 years, Albert Hart.
Surviving children are: Marilyn Donnelly and Jane Collier, grandchildren are; Cheryl Nichting and Travis Collier (spouse Andrea Collier). Great grandchildren are: Ashley Nichting, Alexandria Nichting, Destiny Jenkins, Katie Collier and Emma Collier. Great great grand children are: Aundre Nichting and Kenzie Nichting.
Evelyn retired from The Inn and Spa at Loretto’s Luminaria Restaurant. She previously worked with Howard Johnson’s in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to that she was a house wife, mother, and assisted her husband with the business. She loved to sew and enjoyed making quilts, draperies and clothes. Evelyn was a terrific cook and really enjoyed all the compliments for her creations.
Evelyn loved life and enjoyed the outdoors. She raised beautiful flowers, and was an avid bird watcher. The birds would come to her.
We want to thank Nurses with Heart Home Care (wonderful friends!), and Kingston Residences where Evelyn spent such a short time with them. Great people at Kingston, very loving and helpful. Also thanks to Hospice for their compassionate care and attention. Everyone was so supportive. You are all in our hearts and memories.
Evelyn chose cremation without a viewing, and a brief memory service.
Services will be held at Rivera Family Funeral Home located at 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM, on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial Contribution to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
