Everett “Andy” AndersonJuly 03, 1937-December 8, 2021
Everett “Andy” Allen Anderson, of Santa Fe passed away on December 8, 2021 at the age of 84. A true extrovert, he was happiest when surrounded by and in service of others. “Sempre Famiglia”, Family Forever, a phrase that he loved, expresses his devotion to Rosalie, his wife of 52 years, daughter Amy and son-in-law Tom Miller, grandsons Greely and Blaise, brother Jim Anderson (Maureen), Aunt Helen Friell, brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Brudos Anderson, father, Allen Anderson, and stepmother, Frances Anderson.
Andy was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. After his mother, Evelyn, died in childbirth, he was often cared for by his Aunt Allene. Andy was a proud veteran, having served in the US Navy as a radar operator on the U.S.S. Daly DD-519 during the Korean War. He married Rosalie Zaffiro on June 28, 1969 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Andy had a successful career as a software developer in the banking industry, which provided the opportunity to make a home and many friends in different places: Milwaukee, WI, Plano, TX, Richmond, VA, and Mount Pleasant, NC. In 2005, Andy and Rosalie retired in Santa Fe, NM to be close to Amy and her family. In Santa Fe, Andy was a committed member of Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, serving in theKnights of Columbus among other activities. His days were filled with caring for his grandsons, Greely and Blaise, who were his pride and joy. Maker of pizzelles, lefse, chili and pizza, teller of Henry and Hilda bedtime stories, Green Bay Packer fan (most of the time), and generous supporter of others’ dreams–we are grateful for all he has given us and we will deeply miss him.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Kingston Residence, who have cared for Andy and Rosalie with dignity and respect, especially Itzel, Mary, Liz, Olga, Lupita, Margarita, Chris and Adrian. Thanks also to all at Compassus Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to May Center for Learning, 1200 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
A memorial will be held at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church on Friday, January 14, 2022. Rosary will be recited at 10:30am, funeral mass at 11:00am. The mass will be followed by burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery and a reception at St. John’s Methodist Church.
