Fabian Pedro Gilberto Montoya 7/21/43-12/27/2024

 Fabian, formerly known (Before the real ID thing) as Gilbert Montoya graduated from this life on 12/27/2024. We rejoice that he is safely in the arms of our Lord (Jesus) and no longer suffering. 

 Gilbert was born to Julio Montoya and Lucy Sandoval Montoya on July 21, 1943 in Santa Fe NM. One of 9 children.

 He graduated from Santa Fe high in 1960 and enlisted in the Santa Fe Army National Guard. He worked in Los Alamos at Safeway in the early 60’s before moving to Albuquerque. 

 He coached a little league team where he lost an eye when a fall ball hit him when he wasn’t looking. He’s great sense of humor was enjoyed.

 He had a food truck in Albuquerque for a while and was a great cook. Which some of us can attest too. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He also worked at the VA.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Lucy Montoya, his brothers Michael Montoya and Ernie Montoya and by his sisters Isabelle Sanchez and Marcie Romero

 He is survived by his friend and partner Pat Manaster (Mercedes), 5 children, Alejandro Alex Montoya of Albuquerque (3 grandchildren), William (Chip) Montoya of Henderson, NV, Julie Sandoval Montoya of Henderson, NV (1 granddaughter, 1 grandson) , Meagan Montoya (Colorado) and Sancia Montoya Tondryk (3 grandchildren) from Minnesota, One brother Anthony (Tony) Montoya of Los Alamos, 3 sisters, Victoria Romero of Santa Fe, Rosina Romero of Las Vegas NM, Cecelia Barrone of Taos NM, and many cousins, nephews, & nieces.

 We would like to thank Pat Manaster (Mercedes) for taking care of Fabian. You deserve a gold crown and well-done faithful servant from our savior for your long-term dedication for Fabian.

 A funeral service will be held on January 15th, Rosary at 10:30am, Mass at 11:am at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Fe. The burial will be on the 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery. Flowers or donations may be sent to the church.
