Felipe De Jesus Romero

Felipe De Jesus Romero, 90, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 on the one year anniversary of his beloved wife, Sulema Romero.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sulema Romero, son Felipe Jr. Romero, son in law Chris Martinez, parents Desiderio Romero and Juanita M. Romero, brothers Antonio Domingo Romero, Espirdion Romero, Carmen Romero and wife Corra Romero.

Felipe was retired for many years. With his free time, he loved to cruise his convertible mustang to Mora, Penasco, and Colorado, All on his own at 90 years old. He also loved to visit his family and friends. He knew many people. He also loved to camp and dance the matachines. One of his very close friends was Esekiel.

He is survived by his loving sister Edna Duran, daughters Betty Romero, Maryann Romero, Patsy Nervarea Romero, Cindy “Ciprie” Martinez and companion Brian, Deanne Grant, and Donna White, sons Johnny Romero, Atanacio “Tiny” Romero, Robert Rodriguez, Damien Scott, Stewart Scott, Michael Romero and wife Patricia, Special grandson Alvaro “Alfalfa” Romero (companion Julia Rodriguez) whom Felipe raised as a son and shared a very special bond with. 

Felipe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Felipe was dearly loved by his 31 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Services will be on Saturday May 28, 2022 at Holy Family Parish Church in Chimayo, NM. Rosary will be at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Senor De Don Carmen Cemetery in Chimayo, NM.
