Fernando Salazar

Fernando "Nandes" Salazar, 80 was a lifelong resident of Los Ojos, and passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. Fernando was born on August 4, 1927 in Los Brazos, NM. Preceded in death by his parents Roman and Simodosea Salazar and brother-in-law Jose P. Abeyta, Fernando never married nor had children. He was a beloved brother and uncle, "Tio Nano" to all his nephews and nieces. He is survived by his sisters; Ida and husband Robert Martinez of Los Ojos, Eloisa Abeyta of Los Ojos, and Francis and husband Delfin Quintana of Cebolla. He is also survived by his many nephews, great nephews, nieces, great nieces and one great-great niece; Robert Jr. "Bobby" and wife Norma Martinez - their children Lucas and Marissa of Los Lunas, Joe P. Jr. and wife Eva Abeyta - their children JoeIII (also his Godson), Adrian, Esteban, Elena and Anna of Espanola; Delfin Jr. "DD" and wife Pancha Quintana and children Jasmin, Christian, Luis, Loren Ann, Angelica, and Gabriel of Lyden. Nieces: Edna and husband Guillermo Cova - their children Daniel and Andrea of California; Elizabeth "Lizzie" and husband Abe Chavez - their children Alyssa Rose and husband Chris Kist and granddaughter Adriana, Marta, Dianna, Celia and Celina all of Albuquerque; Cecilia and husband Clyde Romero and their son Lorenzo of Albuquerque; Jonetta and husband Louis Pacias - their children Roman and Amanda of Albuquerque; lastly Teresita and husband Patrick Silva and their children Veronica and Alessandra of Albuquerque. He was also loved and honored greatly by many other relatives and friends. A special thanks and recognition goes to his daily care assistants: Elviria Abeyta of Los Brazos, Frank Esquibel and Joe Leonard Gomez of Tierra Amarilla. Also, to Earl James Martinez of Canones who shuttled him his prescription medication. Wake and rosary for the repose of the soul of Fernando Salazar will be on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Also at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos with the following serving as pallbearers, Robert Martinez Jr., Joe P. Abeyta Jr, Delfin Quintana Jr., Daniel Cova, Roman Valdez, and Joe P. Abeyta III. Honorary pallbearers are Salvador Zamora, Milnor Manzanares, Carlos Manzanares, Roy Martinez, Alfonso Martinez, Joe "Cora" Sanchez, Rosenaldo Casados, Leo Rodella, Rojelio Duran, Frank Esquibel, Epemenio Ulibarri and Pepe "Pepito" Zamora Jr. The family of Fernando Salazar has entrusted his funeral arrangements to the Rivera Family of Block Salazar Mortuary.
