Fidel Gutierrez

Fidel Gutierrez was called home on January 9, 2025, after a short Illness. Fidel was dedicated to helping others in the community. He was the owner of Angelinas Restaurant in Espanola for 33 years, As well as one of the biggest apple growers in the Valley of Velarde. He provided many jobs for families through his businesses. He was an ally of Emilio Naranjo and the democratic party. He served on the Espanola School Board and was a commissioner of the New Mexico interstate stream commission. He was also the first farmer to bring the sprinkler system to NM which would help the apple growers save their crops during the freezing months.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria de la Luz DeVargas and Fidel Gutierrez Sr., of Velarde, NM, his son Fidel Chuck Gutierrez the III, and his two daughters Evangeline and Gloria, all of Velarde, NM. His brothers Ernesto of Espanola, Sam of Los Lunas, and Ray of Velarde. His sisters Anita, of Tierra Amarilla, Agueda, of Santa Fe NM, Zoraida, of Velarde, Eliza, of Los Lucero's, and Mary Ellena, of California and his grandson Kenny Valdez.

He is survived by his wife Angelina Salazar, his ex-wife and good friend, Esta Diamond, of Velarde, daughter-in-law, Tina Trujillo Garland,  of Alcalde, brother, Mark Gutierrez, of Spain, daughter, Bernadette (Gary) and Yonah (Benito) Gutierrez, from Velarde, son, Jeremy (Moraya) Gutierrez, from Espanola, Andres (Renee) Estrada, from Edgewood, and Zev Gutierrez, from Espanola, NM, his grandchildren; Chris Quintana, Leticia Atencio, Mathew Salazar, Samantha Martinez, Elijah Duran, Alexa Jaramillo Gutierrez, Eddie Velasquez Jr., Tyler Guiterrez, Maria De La Luz, Fidel Chuck IV, Joanie Gutierrez, Ian Gutierrez, Noah and Jonah Gutierrez, Naloh, Andres Jr., Noelle, Marcos, Lola and Julia Estrada, his great grandchildren, Lucas, Cruz, Alejandra, Corazon , Eli, Cash, Dominic, Morgan, Mateo, and Willow, and his great great-granddaughter Sierra, along with many other friends and relatives. He will be missed greatly.
