Filadelfio A. Miera, 94, of Taos, passed peacefully into his Heavenly Fathers care on May 24, 2014 after a long and healthy life. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many leadership capacities as a faithful servant to his family, congregation, and community. He served in the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre during WWII in Okinawa, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was a long-time rancher, an avid hunter, and letter carrier for 35 years in Los Alamos.
Filadelfio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by Esther, his sweet eternal companion and wife of 70 years; his parents Lino and Pilar Miera; three infant children: Pilar, Roberto and Joseph Miera; siblings: Moises and Jose Francisco Miera; and Rafaela Vigil (Jose Loyola).
He is survived by a sister Sylvia Saenz (Frank), 4 sons: Leroy (Julie), Paul (Kim), Joe Anthony, and John (Linda), 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and many other beloved friends and relatives.
Public visitation was held on May 29, 2014 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30th at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (307 Camino de Santiago in Taos) with burial to follow at the Miera Family Cemetery on Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
