Flor Varela

Flor Elena Varela, 53, of Española, NM, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nepomuceno and Enedina Varela, her brother Juan D.D. Varela and her nephews, Eric Varela and Oscar S. Rivera.

She is survived by her husband, Garland Thompson, her son Elier I Rojo, her daughter Aurbyanna Varela, and her four grandkids, Ivan Arnoldo, Elier and Eduardo Baca Talavera, and Eliana Rojo. She is also survived by her sisters, Anna, Maribel and Magaly, and her brothers Joel and Elier Varela.

Flor was originally born in Mexico, but resided in Española since 1986. Flor was a deeply compassionate person, dedicating her last years to raising her three male grandchildren.

She was full of laughter, and enjoyed making others smile. She will be greatly missed by her family and her beloved dog, Sierra.

A private family ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 2:00pm at the Rivera Family Funeral Home of Española, NM.
