Freddy Sandoval was born on January 13, 1934, to Fred and Victoria Sandoval.
Freddy passed away on August 6, 2024, at Christus St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings, Erlinda Hildalgo, Ray Sandoval, Pat Sandoval, and Yolanda Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Dessie (his sweetheart), Children Tina (Sabino) Vargas, Larry Sandoval Sr., Cecelia (George) Herrera. Grandchildren, Annette Schepps (Larry), Melissa Sandoval, Larry Sandoval Jr. (Lydia), Crystal Sandoval. Great Grandchildren Richard Encinias (Violeta), Anthony Cordero (Shania), Mya Sandoval, Tatianna Encinias, Jeremiah Peters, Layla Peters, Joshua Sandoval, Bianca Dessie Jaramillo. Great Great Grandchild Josiah Sandoval. He is survived by special friend Lora Marsh and family, special friend Denton Colvin and family, special friend Doug Colvin and family, special friend Maya del Margo, husband Jim Riesterer and children Patrick and lan, special friend Louie Petry. He is survived by the Kids at Play family and the many Mariachi group members that he played with over the years.
Freddy's passing has left a huge void in the lives of his family and friends. He was the cornerstone of the family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished family gatherings. He was a beloved member of the community. He loved to draw and paint and do Word Find puzzles. He was a professional meat cutter during his entire adult life. He was a volunteer and integral member of Kids at Play for over 20 years. He was a school crossing guard for over 25 years, mostly at Nava Elementary School. He took his job extremely seriously and ensured the safety of each child crossing the street.He played with Mariachi groups since he was a young man and continued until about a year ago. He loved Mariachi music and played every musical instrument. He led a full and blessed life. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Freddy's Life will take place on September 12, 2024, from 1-4
at the Elks Club, 1615 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM.
