Fred Wolff

May 26, 1949 — July 15, 2022

Fredrick Karl Wolff, age 73, resident of Tesuque, New Mexico, passed away at home on July 15, 2022, with his devoted family by his side. Fred was a strong, humble and kind man. He was born on May 26, 1949, in Evanston, IL to Violet and Walter Karl Julius Wolff. He is survived by his three sons, Joseph Michael Wolff of Costa Rica, Nicholas Fredrick Wolff of Santa Fe and Theodore Fredrick Wolff of Taos, New Mexico. He leaves six granddaughters, Chamonix Wolff, Hayley Wolff, Ayla Wolff, Veyda Wolff, Isabell Wolff and Paloma Wolff and one grandson, Nilo Wolff. He is survived by this former wife of 30 years, Donna Lee Wolff, LPN of Santa Fe.  Fred is predeceased by his brother, Walter Wolff, sister, Joyce Wolff and survived by brother, Rick Wolff and sister, Patti Downes.

Fred graduated from Illinois State University in 1971, with a bachelor’s degree in English. He was an avid reader, history buff, debater, outdoorsman and skiing enthusiast. After college he lived in Crested Butte CO and developed a love for skiing, a serious passion that he passed on to his sons. After many years of working in the snow he decided it was too cold and he moved to New Mexico in 1976. He then started his own construction company, Wolff Builders Inc, in 1977 and remained as president until his death. In 1983, he moved to Tesuque where he built his own passive solar house called Rancho Lobo at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Fred was a proud father who spent a lot of time with his family engaged in their favorite activities such as skiing, camping, hiking, boating, playing basketball and horseback riding. He was a true cowboy with his trusted steed, Cody, who lived alongside Fred for 39 years. He will be smiling under his hat wearing his boots, spurs and six-shooter. Fred loved keeping everyone entertained with his sense of humor and he was always ready for a good adventure.

He was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and he loved his family very much. Fred left this world but will always be with us in spirit and in our hearts. We Love You!!

We will be having a Celebration of Life ceremony for Fred Wolff on September 30th, 2022 and will meet at the Santa Fe Railyard at 3:00 PM.

Be ready for a Great Adventure…
