In Loving Memory of Gene Martinez
Our beloved Gene Martinez was born on December 5, 1979, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Maida and Abel Ronnie Martinez. He unexpectedly left us on the morning of January 27, 2025, to be with our Lord.
Gene was known for his incredible storytelling and his contagious laugh that brought joy to those around him. He was preceded in death by his father, Abel Ronnie Martinez; his paternal grandparents, Abel and Arabella Martinez; His beloved Cane Corso, Molly, Uncle Johnny; great-grandparents Carmella and Carpio Romero; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins; as well as his maternal grandfather, Elmer Sandoval, who he loved dearly; Uncle Tomas Sandoval; and great-grandmother Jacobita Vigil.
He is survived by his beloved grandmother, Clorinda Sandoval, whom he called "The Queen", his loving mother, Maida; his brother, Jerome; his son, Shane; his daughter, Jade; his aunts and uncles: Irene and Anthony Martinez, Donald and Cindy Sandoval, and Carolann and Ernesto Garcia; Also, his cherished cousins Annette Ortiz, Lynette Martinez, Donna Maestas, Jesse Martinez, and Andrea Martinez. Gene shared many treasured memories with them, and he will forever be in their hearts. He is also deeply missed by the extended family of relatives who loved him dearly.
Gene's passion for life and adventure was evident in everything he did. He earned his GED before proudly serving in the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. There, he became an exceptional marksman, earning the nickname "Sniper." After his service, Gene worked in Los Alamos, where his talent for learning new things and his exceptional creativity shone through in many ways, including his work as an artist and muralist.
Gene loved the mountains and took every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. His dream of being a race car driver was reflected in his love for fast driving. Above all, Gene was kind and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge, always eager to share what he knew.
Gene’s unexpected passing has left a hole in our hearts that is impossible to fill. We miss him more than words can express, and we take comfort knowing he is now in the presence of our Lord. You were our shooting star, Gene—burned bright and gone far too soon. We love you always, and we will carry you with us in everything we do.
Private services will be held at a later date. Until we see you again, all our love, Your Beloved Family.
Our Family would like to thank everyone for their calls, cards, flowers, and support.
