Gene Bolton, 77, died of natural causes in Santa Fe, New Mexico on July 11, 2022. Gene was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, on August 12, 1944, the second child of four born to Harry and Dorothy Bolton.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife; Marcia Lopez-Bolton, granddaughter; Luciana Magdalena Lansrud-Lopez, parents; Harry and Dorothy Bolton and brother-in-law; David Lopez.
He is survived by his son; Phil Bolton, daughter; Laura Lansrud-Lopez, grandsons; Carlos Bolton, Evan Lansrud-Lopez, granddaughters; Betsy Bolton, Sofia Lansrud-Lopez, great grandson; Lorenzo Bolton, great granddaughter; Sabrina Bolton, brothers; Anthony Bolton, Christopher Bolton and sister; Mary Celine Harland.
At 18-years-old, Gene crossed the country to attend St. Michael’s College (also known as the College of Santa Fe). He fell in love with Marica López shortly after arriving in Santa Fe and they were married on August 3, 1964. Gene enlisted with the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1974. Gene and Marcia chose to raise their children in Marcia’s hometown of Santa Fe, where Gene created a place for himself as a self-employed electronics technician and ambitious entrepreneur. Gene is remembered by family and friends for his talented wood-carving skills, ferocious protection of his family, passion for ocean diving, story-telling, fixing things, and for his volunteer work with the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
