Genevieve Reyes

Genevieve S. Reyes, age 80, of La Mesilla, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, surrounded by her children.  We will all miss her dearly, but we know that she is in peace and in God’s arms in heaven.

Genevieve loved traveling, long drives to the mountains, fishing, going to the movies and spending time with family.  She worked as a seamstress, nurse’s aide, manager, owned a restaurant and most importantly raised her kids and grandkids to be respectful, honest, helpful, and hard working. Her smile was open, and her love was all forgiving.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ernesto and Ramona Ortiz, her son, Richard Rodriguez and her brother, Valentín Ortiz.

She is survived by her children; Bernadette Caraveo (Oscar), Rosalie Cardenas (Eloy), Martín Rodriguez (Teresina), Ben Rodriguez (Maria). She is also survived by her siblings; Celia Medrano (Val), Lupe Saiz, Carmen Ortiz, Angie Barbero, Lena Gonzales (Andrew), Tina Ortiz, James Ortiz (Liz), and her sister in law; Brenda Ortiz, Grandchildren; Sonia Caraveo, LeRoy Cardenas (Geralyn), Colette Rodriguez, Felicia Rodriguez, Jessica Rodriguez, Jesse Ray Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez (Samantha), Diego Rodriguez (Andrea)Great-Grandchildren; Marley, Brooklyn, Madilyn, Amelia, Adrianna, Gabriel, Jazmyne, Michael, and Genevieve

She is survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other relatives and dear friends.

Genevieve will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz, N.M. on Friday April 8, 2022 with the Rosary at 10:00 AM and the Mass at 11:00 AM, Interment will follow. 

The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Rivera Funeral Home and Cremations in Española.
