George Martinez, age 71, passed away April 11, 2025. George was born June 2, 1953, in Santa Fe, New Mexico to the late Sixto and Catalina Sandoval Martinez. George worked as an estate caretaker, specializing in house painting and home beautifying. He attended New Mexico Highlands University. He was a member of the College Church of Christ. George was not only a Christian in name, but also through his actions. His faith and spirituality were evident in everything he did. George’s favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
George’s example of Christianity led his parents and most of brothers and sisters to follow the same Christian faith. George was a people person with a heart of gold. He was generous with his time, talents, finances, and faith. He had a great sense of humor and was quite the character. He loved the Grinch, sweets and most of all to scare cats. Friends describe him as a giant/gentle teddy bear which he truly was.
George is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ernest, Jennie, and Zelda; and many other family members. He is survived by his siblings, Rose, Benny (Louise), MaryAnn, David (Patsy), Danny, Dorothy, Albert (Maria), Victor (Helen), Veronica (Mark), Carol (Paul), and Ruth; special friend, Georgia; and many extended family members and friends.
