George E. Watson, 89, of Cerrillos, NM, passed away quietly on July 14, 2009, at the New Mexico State Veterans Home following a brief illness. Formerly of Danvers, MA and Englewood, FL, he had been a resident of Cerrillos, NM since 1994. Born in Denvers, MA in September 1919, he was the son of the late James A. Watson and Viola B. (Cowan) Watson, and was a member of the Watson Farm family, famous for their award winning corn and their farm stand on US Route 1. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II. He was the husband of the late M. Annette Watson with whom he shared 65 years marriage. She predeceased him in 2007.
He is predeceased by his brothers James A and Charles C Watson as well as his sisters Mildred Moulton, Eleanor Commette, Evelyn Keith, and Margaret Watson.
George is survived by his children, Evelyn M. Blair and her husband Dr. William Blair of Albuquerque, NM, Caroline G. Martin and her husband Richard of Londonderry, NH, and his son George E, Watson Jr., of Cerrillos, NM, with whom he lived. He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marian Graves of Denvers, MA, as well as his sisters-in-law, Marge Watson of Danvers, MA and Alma Watson of Peabody, MA.
He will have a private graveside service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. The family request that no flowers be sent and donations may be made to the charity of your choice in his memory.
