George Lucero

George Lucero, 95, born August 21, 1913 in El Valle, passed away July 17, 2009 at the family home in El Valle, NM following a lengthy illness. He was the son of Gabriel and Eliza Lucero. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Lucero, grandson, Johnny Lucero, son in-law, Jimmy Montoya, grandson in-law, Ricardo Orozco, parents-in-law, Antonio and Anita Olguin, sister, Isabel Pacheco, brothers, Jacobo Romero and Sylvanio Romero, and beloved first cousins, George Romero, Sr. and spouse Oralia Romero. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Corina Olguin Lucero, children, Eliza Romero, Anna Montoya, Albert Lucero, Betty Montoya (Miguel Sr.) of El Valle and Gloria Lucero of Los Lunas, grandchildren, Lenny Romero, Karen Montoya (Ramon Hernandez), Lori Quintana (John), Cindy Montoya, Kristie Fisher (Orlando Montoya), Cheryl Orozco, Jackie Montoya (Christopher Martinez), April Lucero (Daniel Martinez), Miguel Montoya Jr., Thomas Volk, great grandchildren, Jovonny Orozco and Aaron Michael Losey, III, two sisters in law, Viola and Telesfora Olguin, many nephews and nieces to include the Pacheco, Olguin and Gurule families and one close cousin, Juan Ortega and close neighbors, Orlando and Priscilla Montoya and Edwin and Merlinda Lucero. George served in the US Army during the 2nd WW. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed. George welcomed all the love, care and attention he received from his family, friends and neighbors. Aaron Michael Losey III, you brought such joy with your visits to great grandpa. Pallbearers are Miguel Montoya Sr., Lenny Romero, Miguel Montoya Jr., Thomas Volk, Orlando Montoya and Christopher Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers are John Quintana, Loretto Gurule, Bernabe Gurule Jr., George Romero Jr., Ray Pacheco, Nelson Montoya and Daniel Martinez. Rosary was recited on July 21, 2009. Funeral mass was held on July 22, 2009. Both services were held at San Miguel Church. Interment was held at the El Valle Cemetery.
