George L. “Ponce” Mirabal Jr. age 62, a resident of Taos Pueblo passed away February 8, 2024. He was born on a cold January day to George L. Mirabal Sr. and Patricia Ann Lujan Mirabal.
“George was the love of my life, the most amazing husband.” “He treated me like a queen” says Bernadette Lujan Mirabal.
George was a valued employee at the Taos Pueblo CMS for many years. He was proud of his Native American heritage and served proudly on the Taos Pueblo Council as well as on staff for the Governor and War Chief’s office. George served his country proudly for 6 years and was an Army veteran. George was a talented hunter and farmer. He hunted elk and deer and fished for food for his family. The produce he so proudly grew in his garden was enjoyed by family and the many friends and neighbors he shared with. George followed and embraced his deep rooted Native American traditions. The Taos Pueblo was truly loved by him.
George is survived by his wife of 20 years, Bernadette Lujan Mirabal, his in-laws, Thomas J. Lujan Jr. and Albenita O. Lujan, his beautiful Godchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and many relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the Taos Pueblo Governor, and the fiscally staff for their kindness and support.
