George was a caring and courageous man who worked hard to provide a loving home for his family. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Romero in October of 1955 and moved to Santa Fe, where they began their life together. He was a crime fighter through and through, and built his career around law enforcement. He began working for the Santa Fe Police Department in 1959 and was commissioned to the New Mexico State Police in 1960. He did wire taps for the DEA, and became heavily involved in both federal and state narcotic drug law as a narcotics agent, a job he enjoyed and excelled at. He eventually retired from the State Police with the rank of Captain in 1985. George was an avid fisherman who enjoyed boating and teaching his children, and later grandchildren, how to fish. His favorite fishing spot was Storrie Lake in his hometown. George also loved playing the guitar and singing. He had a passion for animals, especially his cats, Ginger, Dollie, Big Girl and Big Boy, and he and his wife Mary cared for a multitude of stray cats in their backyard year round. He was an excellent handyman and thoroughly enjoyed helping family and friends with anything they might need. He was an amazing man that will be forever be loved and missed.
