Born to Jose C and Virginia L. Romero, in Nambe, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in laws, Vicente and Maria Romero. His brother, Horacio Romero, brothers in law, Vicente Romero Jr., Ken Kepler, John Lujan, Joe Jaramillo, sister-in-law, Mary Romero, Godson, Steven Martinez, nephews, Gregory Romero, James Garcia and many cherished family members as well as his pets, Molly and Louis.

George retired after serving 35 years with the Park Service and BLM where he established life-long friendships. He was always available to help family and friends. George was loyal to his faith and family and was always humble and kind.

Survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia M. Romero, daughter Stacey Palmer, Godsons: Orlando Gallegos Jr. and Jacob DeVargas, special niece and nephews, Victoria and Mateo DeVargas, Billy Lujan, and Ray Medina.

Services will be held September 27, 2022 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, Holy Rosary 9:30, Mass of Christian Burial 10:00, Burial: Rosario Cemetery.

Thank you to the Pojoaque Fire District Paramedics, Santa Fe County Sherriff’s Department Deputies, OMI staff, Chaplain Jose Villegas, Donald Yardmen, Deacon Candidate, and his wife Elaine for praying with the family and staff at Rivera Family Funeral Home for their compassionate care.
