George T. Flack, 91, ended his time on this plane May 8th, 2009 in Taos, New Mexico. He had lived in Taos since 2003 when he had come from North Palm Beach, Florida, to join his son, Drew, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Duff, who survive him. George was born above his fathers drugstore in Westmont, New Jersey, on March 30th, 1918, the son of Bertha Murphey Flack and George Thomas Flack. He attended Haddonfield Friends School where he excelled in sports and studied the violin. A 1936 graduate of Collingswood High School, George was the captain of the baseball team and a New Jersey All-State third baseman. After high school he attended Bob Jones College in Tennessee. Enlisting in the Army at the start of World War II, Staff Sergeant Flack served in the 5th Armys Signal Corp, first in North Africa, and then in Italy. He spent more than three years overseas. After the war he married Lucille Prevary and managed the Millside Farms diary operation on Long Beach Island. In 1952 their only child was born. From 1957 until 1962, George was a partner at Leeds Realty before founding his own firm, Flack Realty. After Lucilles death in 1962, George married Melba Gene Higgins of Woodlynne, and the two were married for 39 years until her death in 2002. George is preceded in death by his brother Jack Flack, and also survived by his sister-in-law, Ethel Brennan, and her husband, Irv Brennan, of Collingswood. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:30 AM at the Cardiac Wellness Center located at 1399 Weimer Road at the Taos Medical Group building.
