George W. Sanchez

George W. Sanchez (67) peacefully passed away on November 29,2018 surrounded by his loving family. George was born to Antonio (Tony) and Elizabeth (Elsie) Sanchez on June 10, 1951. He joined the United States Army in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1975. George was also a 1st Dan Black Belt in Korean Tang Soo Do-Moo DU Kwan and had degree in Environmental Science. For the majority of his life he was self employed as a landscaper and excavator. George loved to be outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or just enjoying the scenery. He often spent his evenings listening to his favorite radio station 89.1 and enjoying his favorite beverage. He liked to joke around and sometimes could be said to have a “colorful” personality with a touch of sarcasm. A quote to remember him by may be his favorite saying “ It’s all in the mind.” George is preceded in death by: Tomas F. Vigil (son), Antonio (Tony) Sanchez (father), Elizabeth (Elsie) Sanchez (mother), Anthony Sanchez (brother), Margaret Sanchez(sister-in-law), Andrew Sanchez (nephew), Lina Garcia(sister), Dario Garcia (brother-in-law), Emilio Sanchez (brother), Lucita Sanchez(sister), Moises Gonzales (nephew), Max Vigil (brother-in-law), Francis Vigil (sister-in-law), Rachel Vigil (sister-in-law) George is survived by: His wife Molly Sanchez of Española: Daughters Sonña Serrano (Delvin) of Pojoaque, Tanya Sanchez (Matthew) of Okhay Owingeh, Tamara Sanchez (Jesse) of La Mesilla; Daughter-in-law Shirley Tafoya of Pecos; Grandchildren Castiel, Mattisyn, Mathias, Kaylynn, Naevia, Tomas Jr., Gabriella, Alexandra; Great Grandchild Kaylub; Brothers Ray Sanchez (Mary) of Lakeside CA, Elmer Sanchez (Patricia) of Arroyo Seco; Sisters Maxine Bustos (Tim) of San Pedro, Rubina Loibl (Chris) of Santa Fe; Mother-in-law Teresina Martinez of San Pedro; Sisters -in-law Helen Maestas (Orlando) of Farmington, Cruzita Segura (Amadeo) of TX, Gail Vigil of San Pedro, Carolyn Vigil of San Pedro, Bernadette Serrano of San Pedro; Brother-in-law Joe Vigil of San Pedro; Longtime Friend Considered as a son Christopher Johnson (Tiffany) of Sonoma CA; Longtime Friends considered as brothers Victor Gonzales of Pojoaque, Bobby Medina of Hernandez: and numerous other family and friends. A Rosary Service will be held at the Scared Heart of Jesus Parish in Española NM on Friday December 7, 2018 at 7:00pm. A Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday December 8, 2018 at 12:00pm at the American Legion Hall – Hunter St. Española NM.
