Gerald "Jerry" Levine

July 24, 1929 — April 13, 2018

Gerald “Jerry” Levine passed peacefully in his home in Austin, Texas on April 13th, 2018 at the age of 88. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Joyce of over 50 years. Jerry was the father of 4 children: Mary (Michael), Victor (Kathryn), Joy (1962-1979) and Adam (Norah). He had one sister Judy, and 6 2/3 grandchildren: Jesse (1971-1974), Seth, John, Diana, Drew, Daniel and one baby girl (on the way). Jerry was born on July 24, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ to Irving and Alberta. He attended college at University of New Mexico in 1947 before returning to NJ to start his career in the car business. Jerry was one of the founding fathers of car leasing which he started in 1965. After a successful career, Jerry and Joyce sold their dealership in NJ and moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1975. Although his move to Santa Fe was supposed to be his retirement, he couldn’t resist his entrepreneurial drive and started many additional successful ventures in Santa Fe including the purchase of the El Gancho Property. Jerry was an avid connoisseur of life and loved flying his plane, travel and enjoying time with family and friends. His generosity and kindness were unmatched and he strove to give more than he received. He had a witty sense of humor and always found the positive in any situation. A memorial service will be held at Rivera Cemetery on Rodeo Road on Wednesday, April 18th at 12:00pm followed by a “Celebration of Life” at Bourbon Grill immediately after the ceremony. In lieu of flowers please pay forward his generosity and kindness by sending donations in his honor to your favorite charity.
