Gerald Tapia

Gerald Ben Tapia, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and esteemed professional engineer passed away on October 1st, 2024 in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born on July 12th, 1962 in Santa Fe NM to his loving parents Benjamin and the late Georgia Tapia.

Gerald's memory will forever be cherished by his devoted wife Sandy; his children Steven Tapia (Monique) and Jaclyn Tapia-Malcom; grandchildren Ariel, Elias, Luciana, Aryannah, Isaiah, Noah, Madison, Jayla, Maks, Armando and Autumn; as well as his father Benjamin Tapia; brother Tommy Tapia; sister Patricia Tapia-Ackerman (Scott)father-in-law David Fernandez, mother-in-law, Corine Fernandez, brothers-in-law Dante (Barbara) Matt, Joey (Fran) Josh (Cueva)and his step children Daniel, Amanda (Luke) Marissa (Dwayne) and Marcos (Jarraca). Gerald was preceded in death by his mother Georgia Tapia, sister Sandi Tapia, son-in-law Brandon Malcom and brother-in-law Guy Fernandez.

A man of remarkable intellect and dedication to excellence from an early age. Gerald pursued higher education at New Mexico State School of Engineering where he graduated first in his class and excelled academically earning himself a place on the Dean's List as well as the National Dean's List. His passion for mechanical engineering led him to embark upon a distinguished 24-year career with Intel that left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments lay a man whose heart beat passionately for drag racing. The thrill of speed ignited something within him that few could comprehend but all could admire. His love for this sport brought joy not only to himself but also to those fortunate enough to witness it firsthand.

As we reflect upon Gerald's life and legacy, we are reminded of the immeasurable impact he has made on countless lives through personal connections and professional achievements. His kindness knew no boundaries - always ready with a smile or supportive word when needed most.

The loss of such an extraordinary individual leaves an unfillable void in our hearts. However, let us take solace in knowing that Gerald’s spirit lives on through each person whose life he touched - whether through family ties or shared experiences.

Celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, October 16th 2024 at Santa Maria Del La Paz in Santa Fe NM. A rosary will be held at 9:30 am with mass immediately following at 10am.
