In Loving Memory of Gilbert Ronald C de Baca

Gilbert Ronald C de Baca, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, was called to his eternal rest by our Heavenly Father on February 5th, at the age of 75.  He was preceded in death by his parents Eufracio and Gregoria C de Baca, brother Tom C de Baca, sister Rosina Villa and daughter Abigail C de Baca, born sleeping.

He is survived by his son Ronald and wife Janice, son Angelo and daughter Cheryl.  Siblings Rudy and wife Joan, Viola Varela, Simon and wife Priscilla, Dan and wife Karen, Edwina and husband Scott Chapman, Dawna C de Baca, sister-in-law Agnes C de Baca and numerous nephews and nieces. Gilbert is also survived by his former wife Maria Brito and Cheryl’s mother Roberta Romero.

Gilbert, a graduate of Santa Fe High School, served in the Army Reserve shortly after.  His diverse career included working for Santa Fe Public Schools, his family business as a heavy equipment operator and the State of New Mexico Department of Health and Environment.

Gilbert never met a person he could not have an extended, caring conversation with.  His warmth, sense of humor, generosity, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.  May he rest in peace.

Services will be held on February 27, 2024, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 511 Alicia St. Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m., followed by mass at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will be immediately following at Cementerio de Agua Fria.  Serving as Pall Bearers will be Ron & Janice C de Baca, Angelo C de Baca, Cheryl C de Baca, Randy Rodriguez, and Tom C de Baca.  A celebration of his life with his favorite foods, Frito Pies and tamales will be held at St. Anne’s Parish Hall.
