Gilbert K. Gonzales, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 17, 2019. He was born in Taos, NM in February 1969 to Simon and Rosalie (Baros) Gonzales. He graduated from Taos High School in 1987 and went to college in Las Cruces N.M at the New Mexico State University. Gilbert was in a life changing accident in 1993 and was paralyzed. Despite having limited mobility this did not stop him from enjoying his favorite things and living his best life. He loved being outdoors in the mountains and enjoyed hunting. He was an avid sports fan and loved football and basketball season. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos, and the
Denver nuggets. He had a sharp mind, a sharp wit, and a vast memory which only enhanced his wonderful personality. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and had a great outlook on everything no matter the situation. On any given day you would find him laughing, making jokes, or talking and enjoying his time with family or friends. He was a wonderful son, brother, partner, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. We are blessed with many memories and are thankful for all of these years spent with him. He is preceded in death by his father Simon Gonzales (2007) and his previous partner, Marney Spruce (1993). He is survived by his mother, Rosalie, long time partner, Joy Mondragon, daughter, Nicole (Pat), grandchildren, Jaynie, Tomas, Mateo, Jayden and Aria. He is also survived by two brothers, Joe (Sharon), and Eric (Melissa), as well his sister, Yvette (Scott), 4 nephews, 3 nieces, and 3 great nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos.
