Gilbert J. Lopez, age 61, a resident of Espanola, passed away on January 20, 2016. He was born on July 20, 1954 to Maria Lopez. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Lopez, grandparents Abenicio and Ernestina Lopez, aunt Celina Lopez, uncles, Jake and Anselmo Lopez and Jose M. Griego, cousins, Max Griego, Jerry Gallegos, and Leo Nevarez. He is survived by his aunts, Irene Griego and Gloria Lopez, uncles, Ruben Lopez and Arthur (Lolita) Lopez, cousins, Henry Lopez, Pauline (Daniel) Lopez, Sheila (Miguel) Romero, Pat Griego, Ryan Lopez, Daniel Lopez, Lee Lopez, Michelle Lopez, Jerome Gallegos, Junior Hernandez, Palmita Romero, Ernestina Romero, Shaun Griego, Patricia (Jerry) Archuleta, Daniela Carmona, Iris Lopez, Angel Padilla, Marina Lopez, and many other cousins and relatives. Best friends, J.P. Martinez, Audra Martinez, Leroy Rodriguez and many other close friends, too many to mention. Gilbert was a very happy, upbeat person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. He loved his Chihuahuas, Socksie, Gremlin, Negro and Gordo. To those who’s names were not mentioned, the family sincerely appreciates your support. A Rosary was recited on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola. Interment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers were J.P. Martinez, Lee Lopez and Leroy Rodriguez.
