Gilbert Sanchez

Gilbert R. Sanchez (El Coyote), 77, of Pilar passed away on October 29, 2021.  Gilbert was a mechanic for 35 years, rancher, welder, farmer, horse trainer and trick roper.  He won several ribbons including a blue ribbon with a bull who ate the ribbon.  He raised Morgan horses in Costilla.  He won the highest award in FFA in the state of New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Onita Sanchez, brother, James Sanchez, sisters, Orlinda Robbins and Mary Ann Carabajal.  He is survived by his wife, Orlin Roybal Sanchez, son, Desiderio Flores and wife Lisa and grandchildren, step daughter, Victoria Work, step son, Mike and Filomena Slade, brother, Aaron and Lily, step grandson, Leo Roybal, caregiver, Jennifer Vigil and many grandchildren, family and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 6 PM at Rivera Funeral Home.  Funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dixon with interment to follow at the Siguina Cemetery in Pilar.
