Gilbert Valdez

Gilbert Valdez, 75, of Vadito, NM passed away on October 22, 2007. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954. After his discharge he was a translator for migrant workers in California. Gilbert was a lifetime bachelor and moved back to N.M. in 1985. Recently he was a caretaker for his older brothers, Ismael and Mike Valdez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Maria Valdez, brothers and sisters, Corina V. Duran, Ismael Valdez, Cleofas Valdez, Carlota Valdez, Benito Valdez, II, Mike Valdez, Teodoro Valdez Teresa Garduno Knisely. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Minnie Valdez, Estella Barreras (Mike), Juan Valentin Valdez (Lois) all of Lancanster, CA., Octaviano Valdez(Elvia) Penasco, many, nephews and nieces and special nephew, Derwin Valdez who assisted him. Rosary was recited on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco, Funeral Mass was held on October 25, 2007 at San Antonio de Padua Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
