Billy worked as a Correctional Officer for the New Mexico State Penitentiary and served in the United States Army where he was deployed to Desert Storm. Upon his return from Desert Storm, he worked as a taxidermist, auto body repairer and in construction. He took great pride in coaching basketball, football, and softball for various youth programs and schools in Santa Fe; his favorite coaching position was working with the students of St. Catherine’s Indian School. Billy was also an avid hunter and guide. He enjoyed the great outdoors of New Mexico but cherished the opportunities he had to visit and hunt in South Africa. When he wasn’t hunting or guiding, he was always busy fixing or building something for family and friends. He enjoyed helping the community by what he jokingly referenced as being “Voluntold”. For many years, he volunteered for the Spanish Colonial Arts Society and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe. He always loved any opportunity to help others and enjoyed the challenge to create or fix something in order to make life easier for people. His quick and witty humor will be greatly missed.
